The Nineties

What’s great about tracks from the 90s is that it will sound familiar, even bring out the memories we now might be ashamed of and laugh with a bit sheepishly about the stupid shit you pulled when you were younger. Yeah. You do remember going completely nuts when you heard it for the first time on the radio and you do remember going bezerk when it was played in the club you went to with your mates when you were still under-aged but decided you wanted to get drunk and breathe the air of what looked like coolness galore.

It is the kind of songs that makes you go down memory lane. Reliving those days where you were just a kid with little on his or her mind. Just fun. Forgetting the bad days that most probably went with those good days. But screw that. It makes you want to sound like all the old people you then looked down upon just because of ageism and say:”Those were the days, my friend”.O wait. You really did not want to sound like those old people. Because that makes you look old right now. But then again you really are. Seeing how the teenagers of today are you might even think that you were old when you actually still were a teen. Because nothing is what is used to be. Nothing. And that might bring out more melancholic feelings. But once you are going down memory lane there’s really no reason to stop.

life and reincarnation of something silly

Silly. It’s a word that has been on the tip of my tongue for the last few weeks as it had such a nice ring to it. I sometimes even wanted to shout it out as loudly as i would possibly could. As it reminds me of moments that were flooded with some sort of inner peace, a happiness that came from little moments of joy. And it seems like there isn’t much time these days for those little silly things. Since it looks like we have officially entered into the age of serious with crisis’ on various fronts like the climate, the economy and politics.
It as such shows more obviously than ever before that seemingly there isn’t much left to be silly about. Whilst it was not so in what seems to be a little while ago.
Then being silly just came natural because it looked like there was very little to worry about. Of course there were serious issues to be battled out, opinions to be defended, relationships to be maintained and other things that seem like crap considering this should be a blog post about “silly”.
But nothing compares to this day and age where everything seems to consist out of crap that brings around fear. And not even Obama as president of the big mighty USA can change that fear into hope for a better future.
That brings me to the assumption that maybe there is one possible antidote to fear and that might be being silly once in a while. Maybe it is even necessary to survive these harsh times.

What's the point…

What’s the point in getting angry?
You’re not angry. You’re just hurt. You just need a safe place where you can dig through all that rage and to get to all the pain beneath it.

Eurovision at the other side of the Atlantic

If ever this blog could be considered a serious affair I shouldn’t even thin about blogging about the Eurovision Song Contest , but since fun should also be on this blogs curricula I will. Because that is exactly what Eurovision actually is. Undisputed F.U.N.. And since this year I was at the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, in the United States of Alcoholism, it is needless to say that I looked forward to some serious detox of Americanism and felt once again the joy of being a European. Thankfully the afternoon (yay to 9 hours of time difference) ended in boozing it up with a bunch of Germans, Finns and Italians belting out “Satellite” on the streets of San Francisco.
